Back from my vacation week off…
It’s been a busy vacation and I’m finding that if everything is even a little off balance, I can’t update these drawings, here is just barely something interesting…

You know, when I was growing up Lauren, all the ladies would go to church on Wednesday night dinner with their families and friends, and some would cook, and others would take turns taking care of the babies in the nursery, which was just down the hallway. Or you could just keep the kid on your lap. And it was about $5 a person, so you could afford to go with the whole family, and it had nice healthy food, maybe some green beans and spaghetti and a nice creamy jello desert, with coffee and kool aid. And then all the families would sing songs, and it was so much fun. Maybe you cartoonists and New York people should see if you could borrow a Polish or Puerto Rican social hall for one night a week, and try something like that?
Though my divide is different, I know how it feels to be out of the flow in a group of friends.
This comic is a great representation of that crap feeling.
Lauren,
I love these strips. My wife had a similar reaction a few weeks ago when we were on vacation and my sister took care of the baby one night so we could have a “date night”…she had trouble staying present in the moment and was worried about the baby.
At the same time, she sometimes feels trapped as the baby’s primary caretaker. It’s a tough road.
One thing that happened is that she took up making comics after last year’s SPX. She’s struggling through her first mini right now.
